Spotlight Saturday: Meet Rasheeda Skinner, Security Guard!

Meet Rasheeda Skinner, Security Guard! Rasheeda Skinner’s eyes light up when she recalls some of the special events Kearsley has hosted during her 10 years here— events such as the Winter Ball and a ceremony honoring centenarians. She recollects many details of these events, particularly the feelings of happiness and pride they brought out in residents and family members.

However, her true love of work and humility shine through when she speaks of her daily interactions with residents. Rasheeda appreciates that residents “trust [her] to help them.” She says, “I treat each one with dignity and respect. I treat every one of them like they are my own grandparents.”
Aside from her professional life, Rasheeda is an avid traveler and concert attendee (Sir Elton John, George Michael, Earth, Wind and Fire with Chicago are among her favorite concert memories), a huge Eagles fan, a wife, and mother to a vivacious daughter with special needs.
She reminds us “Going through life there will be good days and bad days— but no matter what, I am still grateful.” With an attitude like that, is it any wonder that her childhood nickname was Smiley?
